Winter is one of the most beautiful and peaceful times to enjoy a vacation in the Canadian wilderness. A variety of fun and exciting winter activities await those who choose to take their vacations between December and March. During the winter our three fully winterized cabins (including running water) and our cozy motel unit allow us to accommodate any size of group, large or small. As during the rest of the year, we offer accommodations on both the American Plan (includes meals) and Housekeeping Plan during the winter. For more information on these plans be sure to visit our "Lodging and Meals" page.
Ice Fishing
A variety of ice fishing opportunities await. In addition to our home lake, Caliper, great ice fishing can be found on numerous other lakes in the area, many that are fly-out only during the rest of the year. Whatever species you are interested in, the winter fishing excitement never ends. Our winterized cabins and motel unit are a cozy home base after an enjoyable day on the lake. Our guests also enjoy the convenience of our heated fish cleaning area complete with running water, as well as the availability of gasoline on-site. And the Caliper Cove Bar & Grill, located in our main lodge building, makes a great place to relax and warm up, and is enjoyed by guests and residents alike.
The location of our camp offers very convenient access by snowmobile to many of the most popular ice fishing destinations in the area. For great lake trout fishing Kay (Katimiagamak), Crow (Kakagi), Kishkutena, and Panorama Lakes are nearby. If northern pike, crappie, or walleye fishing is more to your liking then try Caliper Lake, Cyclone point on Lake of the Woods, or the Falls in Nestor Falls, all just minutes away by snowmobile. For the more adventurous an amazing number of lakes can be found in the area at the end of a peaceful and enjoyable snowmobile excursion.
Larsson's Camp is truly your home away from home for a great ice fishing vacation. Book today, and make this winter's vacation one to remember.
Snowmobiling
The Ontario Snowmobile trail connecting Fort Frances/International Falls with Kenora and on to Manitoba, crosses Caliper lake within view of our camp. This makes Larsson's Camp and ideal home base for your snowmobiling vacation. Many of our guests find that we are at the hub of a variety of enjoyable day excursions by snowmobile. They enjoy our cozy cabins, motel unit, and on-site Bar & Grill at the end of a fantastic day of sledding. For more information on trail riding in Ontario, or to request a copy of the Ontario trail map, visit www.ontariotravel.net/snowmobile or call 1-800-ONTARIO.
Skating
Strap on your skates, play a little hockey, or just get a little exercise. Our kids are hard to keep off the ice in the winter, and they usually clear an area that is nearly regulation size.
Night Time Recreation
Our on site licensed restaurant, the Caliper Cove Bar & Grill, is one of very few year round night spots in the area. During the winter months we keep very busy with organized pool tournaments, karaoke nights, dances with live bands, and our annual New Year's Eve celebrations. Drop in for a refreshment, and a lot of fun!
