Larsson' s Camp is a year round vacation retreat for the hunter, angler, or those that simply enjoy the great outdoors. Our camp features nine cabins and a motel unit along the shore of beautiful Caliper Lake, with each one outfitted to ensure the complete comfort of our guests. Three of our cabins and our motel unit are fully winterized (including running water in the winter), so we can accommodate any size group for a winter vacation.
Our historic lodge building was built over 70 years ago, and has been beautifully restored to become the home of our fully licensed Caliper Cove Bar & Grill. Air conditioning and satellite service to televisions throughout the bar as well as a games area featuring billiard tables are just a few of the creature comforts provided for your relaxation and enjoyment.
For family fun, we have a sand beach, as well as large grass picnic areas. Several trails wind their way from our camp to the shores of Caliper Lake. Horseshoes, volleyball, badminton and a play structure with a large sand box are some of the outdoor family activities we offer. A bonfire on the point of our cove can round out an enjoyable day as the sun sets gloriously over Caliper Lake. Join us each Monday (May through mid August) as we host a dinner bonfire party on the point of our cove. All guests are welcome. Drop by for a refreshment, some fresh caught fish, and a bite of deep fried turkey, injected with our special seasonings. Of course, there's hot dogs and marshmallows for the kids (however old), and lots of great conversation. Dinner's on us, as a thank you to you.
For the angler, we offer an exciting variety of open water fishing destinations. Our home lake, Caliper, offers excellent fishing for walleye, black crappie, northern pike, and small mouth bass. Following the ice melt in the spring, our guests regularly haul in trophy northern pike, right from our own docks! For those anglers looking for adventure beyond our "back yard", we have boat caches on four different lakes within a half an hour of our lodge. A short drive and a quick hike puts you into a beautiful remote lake with a "fly-in" feeling.
Winter time at Larsson's Camp offers many enjoyable activities. Hundreds of miles of groomed snowmobile trails wind their way through some of Canada's most rugged and beautiful country. Northwest Ontario is the land of lakes, so ice fishing is varied and plentiful. During the winter the location of our camp offers very convenient access by snowmobile to many of the most popular ice fishing destinations in the area. For great Lake Trout fishing Kay, Crow, Kishkutena, and Panorama Lakes are nearby. If northern pike, crappie, or walleye fishing is more to your liking, try Caliper Lake, Cyclone Point on Lake of the Woods, or the Falls in Nestor Falls, all just minutes away. Whatever species you are interested in, the winter fishing excitement never ends. Our winterized cabins and motel unit provide a cozy "home base" after an enjoyable day outdoors, and our licensed Bar & Grill is a great place to finish off the day. With gas on site, we have most everything you need to help make your winter vacation "one to remember".
For the hunter, a variety of exciting trophy hunts await. We offer a tremendously successful fall black bear hunt. Our guests have harvested several record book animals. This hunt is extremely popular, and there is usually a waiting list. Northwest Ontario boasts some of the largest whitetail deer anywhere. Many trophy bucks have been taken in the region. The deer are large and plentiful, the country is rugged and beautiful, and our guided whitetail hunt takes you into the thick of it. For a truly Canadian adventure, we offer a guided timber wolf hunt. Enjoy some of the most beautiful country you have ever seen while hunting one of the most wary and difficult animals you will ever have the fortune to encounter. This is a unique experience that is not to be missed.
